What if you didn't have to choose between — motion, dribble drive, or read & react?

RDS has it all. And most importantly, it keeps the main thing the main thing: better shots, bigger advantages, better spacing, and your best players in their best actions.

Yeah, pretty sweet.

Here at SAVI, we believe you don't need more plays. You need players who know how to play. So we built the RDS Offense to do exactly that.

Mark got a group of coaches together at LSU last week to walk them through how it looks in the gym. Here's the sneak peek from that session

That's the preview. Below, Mark's got more teaching — the concept, the actions, the reads, and the film. Take it away, Mark.

Most coaches do not need another offense.

They need a system that helps players understand how to play.

That has always been the heart of RDS — Race. Drive. Space.

Now we are adding a new flavor to it.

This version blends motion principles with the modern game. Think of it like Bob Knight and Nate Oats had an offensive child. You still get the cutting, screening, ball movement, and player movement that made motion offense so hard to guard. But you also get modern spacing, actions, triggers, and advantage creation.

That is the part I love.

We are not asking players to stand five-out and wait for someone to win one-on-one. We are also not asking them to pass, cut, and screen without a real plan to put pressure on the defense.

  • We want movement with purpose.

  • We want cuts that create space.

  • We want screens that happen inside the flow of the offense.

  • We want ball movement that actually punishes the defense.

  • And most importantly, we want players who understand how to play instead of players who only know where to go.

The goal is still simple.

Create an advantage. Expand the advantage. Finish the advantage.

That advantage might come from transition. It might come from a ghost screen, a zoom, a split action, or a sequence that blends all of those together. It might also come from something as simple as a drive that forces help and creates the next decision.

The ACTION matters, but the CONCEPT matters more.

Did we move the defense? Did we create a closeout? Did we force two defenders to guard one player? Did we create a shot worth taking?

That is what we care about.

This version of RDS gives players structure without taking away their freedom. They know what creates advantages. They understand where the spacing should be. They know when to cut, when to screen, when to drive, and when to move it. They also know how to keep playing when the first action gets covered.

That is where a lot of offenses break down. The first option gets taken away, and the possession turns into a bailout.

RDS gives players answers.

  • If the defense helps, we force rotation.

  • If the defense switches, we punish.

  • If the defense overplays, we back cut.

  • If the ball gets driven, we space.

  • If we do not have an advantage, we create one.

This is not about choosing between traditional motion and modern offense. It is about taking the best pieces from both and putting them into a system players can actually use.

Traditional motion gave us cutting, screening, shared offense, and constant player movement.

Modern offense gave us spacing, pace, and more decision-making.

RDS blends those together. It helps your team play fast without playing rushed. It provides structure while allowing freedom.

Motion principles, modern concepts.

That is the flavor we are building.
