A Moment of Gratitude + Part Two of the Perfect Coach

Hey Coach,

Earlier this week, I was in Utah speaking at a coaching clinic, and a number of coaches mentioned that they couldn't wait for part two of the Perfect Coach Bracket Challenge to come out on the hours.

And it really just stopped me in my tracks.

I was like, Wow—these coaches are weekly listeners. And they’re asking me to let the cat out of the bag on which attribute made the perfect coach.

It was a wonderful moment of gratitude. I’m just so grateful for how much SAVI Basketball has grown over the past year.

The reason I’m truly thankful for the growth is its impact.

We’re now at the point where people outside of our membership and inner circle are telling me weekly how much they love the podcast and the things we’re doing.

I’m receiving emails from coaches expressing their gratitude for the service we provide and the impact we're having on the game.

And when I set out to serve coaches—after decades teaching athletes—this was the dream.

I felt that I had gained insight into certain aspects of coaching over a long career that could enhance the experience of sports for players, coaches, and everyone involved.

And so that became the mission: to revolutionize the way the game is taught and played.

Being the competitive guy that I am, it’s hard sometimes to sit back and reflect on how far we’ve come—because I want things to happen fast and big.

But that moment really stopped me in my tracks.

Even yesterday, just as our online coaching community passed 600 members for the first time ever—it hit me again.

Yeah, it’s not hundreds of thousands, but it’s so many more than we ever expected to have by this time.

I just feel very blessed right now.

And I don’t take it lightly that you take the time to read this email, that you care about this thing we’ve built called SAVI, and that you’re investing in yourself to be the best coach and leader you can be for your program.

That’s what it means to be a coach.

So thank you, Coach.
